A Place to Find the Perfect Meal

White Bread

1 C milk

1 C hot water

2 Tbsp sugar

3 Tbsp butter

2 1/2 tsp salt

1 Tbsp dry yeast

1/4 C lukewarm water

6 C flour

 

Scald milk.

Add hot water, butter, sugar, and salt.

 

In separate bowl dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

 

Add hot mixture to the flour and loosely mix. Let it cool some before adding yeast.

Add yeast.  Mix in to form dough.

Turn on to floured surface and knead for no more than 10minutes

 

Cover and let rise in warm place for 1 hour.

 

Punch down and divide into two loaves.

Place in two greased loaf pans.

Cover and let rise again for 1 hour or until dough fills the pans.

 

Bake at 400 for 10 minutes.  Reduce heat to 350 and cintinue baking for approx 25 minutes

 

Remove from over and pans.  Place on wire racks.

While hot, use pastry brush to cover loaves with melted butter.

Cover with towel and let cool completely on racks before placing in bags.
