A Place to Find the Perfect Meal
Squash Rolls
Have you ever finished a dinner and find you have just a little bit of squash left over? Too much to throw out but not really enough to save for another meal. Try this recipe.
1/2 cup mashed squash 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup hot milk
Combine and let cool to lukewarm.
Stir 1 1/2 tsp Quick Rise yeast into 5 cups flour and add to liquid mixture.
Mix well and knead on floured board until smooth. Let rise until double in bulk.
Shape into 24 rolls and place in greased 9x13 pan. Let rise again until double and bake in preheated 360 degree oven for 30 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on rack.
These are great with baked beans! We like them fresh from the oven with peanut butter.
